President Claudia Sheinbaum presented this Wednesday the national security operation that will accompany the 2026 World Cup matches held in Mexico, especially in the Azteca (CDMX), Akron (Guadalajara), and BBVA (Monterrey) stadiums.
The plan contemplates the deployment of more than 30,000 elements of the National Guard, the Secretariat of Citizen Security, and state police in the sports venues and their surroundings during match days.
“Mexico welcomes the world with open arms. We are prepared to give the best welcome to the tourists and fans arriving in our country.”
Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico
Additionally, more than 5,000 video surveillance cameras will be installed in the peripheral areas of the stadiums, with real-time monitoring from specialized command centers that will coordinate the response to any incident.
